Lower Sacramento River
has to be rated as among the best tailwater fisheries in the country. The wild rainbows are big, tough, and plentiful, and the river’s controlled flows result in near optimum fishing conditions every day of the year.

Upper Sacramento River
is now open all year and the past three years have had some of the best fishing and biggest fish in decades. With nearly 40 miles of water that is easy to get to, there’s always a good spot.

Trinity River
is one of the finest fall and winter steelhead fisheries in the west. The Fly Shop’s guides wrote the book on the Trinity, and we’re adding new chapters every season.

Klamath River
is famous for its fall “half pounders” and winter run of adult steelhead, as well as fantastic stonefly hatches in June.

Pit River
is now open year ‘round. This rugged, classic canyon fishery has become a fast favorite in the early weeks (March/April) of the season, and it’s a great summer and fall freestone destination, too.

McCloud River
rainbows are the most famous trout on Earth, and its hefty browns are a reward for the angler willing to work into the rugged river canyon water.

Hat Creek
Is renowned for great hatches, selective rainbows, and the proverbial chess game of fly fishing. It’s the most challenging spring creek in the region.

Fall River
is the largest spring creek in California, with phenomenal mayfly hatches, limited access, and season-long action.

Feather River
We target steelhead in the Feather River mainly in October and November, when the fish are stacking up in the riffles and redds below the spawning salmon.

Yuba River
Although the Yuba River has healthy numbers of resident Trout and Steelhead throughout the year, the often inconsistent flows and conditions make spring the best time of the year to target fish on dry flies.

Seasonal Shad Fishing
Shad are known for their acrobatic battles and unwillingness to ever quit fighting once hooked. These silver-sided fish average 2-3 pounds, but are so strong they often feel more like three or four times their size, as they run, jump, run, jump, run, jump, thrash, thrash, thrash.
