Equipment Checklist for your Yuba River Guided Float Trip

• 4, 5, or 6 weight fly rods, 9 to 9 1⁄2 feet long
  
• Reels should have a good drag system and be equipped with a floating fly line.
  
• Every angler needs to have a current California fishing license, Delta Bay Enhancement Stamp, and Steelhead Report Card while fly fishing for steelhead on the Yuba River.
  
• Chest-high Waders and felt or studded wading boots are required for fishing on the Yuba River. Even though we fish the river from drift boats, waders are necessary for getting in and out of the boats in the frigid waters, and to wade fish certain productive riffles and runs. The Fly Shop does not rent waders or boots.
  
• Warm Clothes and Rain Gear. Weather conditions during the spring season on the Yuba River can vary dramatically, be prepared for the possibility of severe weather.

Miscellaneous Tackle Suggestions:

• Leaders for nymphing should be 7 1⁄2 to 9 ft. long, tapering to 4x.
  
• Fluorocarbon tippet spools of 3X, 4X, and 5X.
  
• Dry fly leaders should be 9 to 10 ft. long, tapering to 4x or 5x.
  
• Tippet spools of 5x & 6x will work for your dry fly leaders, and do not have to be fluorocarbon
  
• Split Shot (BB, AB, AAA)
  
• Indicators: our favorite indicators for nymphing on the Yuba River are the Boles Float Rite Indicators and the Thingamabobbers.
  
• Dry Fly Floatant is good to have in your vest to keep your flies floating after numerous hookups.
  

Other items to consider bringing are:

*Hat or Cap (Wool cap for cold winter mornings) *Polarized Sunglasses
*Any beverages other than water and soda *Camera (in waterproof container) *Rain Jacket *Layered clothing system *A change of clothes
